GMA Garnet Group has recognized Anadarko’s Gulf of Mexico production facilities teams for its recycling effort of spent garnet blasting media.
The 420 tons of garnet Anadarko’s crews recycled in 2014 were sent to GMA’s reprocessing facility, where contaminants and impurities are removed so it can be re-used at other facilities.
The environmental benefits of recycling garnet prompted Anadarko to use it as an alternative to sand while blasting in late 2013, as it eliminated the need to properly dispose of sand as waste after each use.
