Berlin to Host 20th International Conference on Renewable Mobility “Fuels of the Future” in January 2023

On January 23, 2023, the 20th International Conference on Renewable Mobility “Fuels of the Future” will open its doors in the City Cube Berlin. Artur Auernhammer, BBE Chairman of the Board, opens the two-day congress after a two-year Corona-related break in attendance.

Oliver Luksic, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport, follows with the first presentation and is dedicated to the framework conditions for innovation and sustainability around renewable fuels and alternative drives. Norbert Lins, Member of the European Parliament, deals with the question “Breakthrough in EU legislation for the energy transition in transport?”.

Recommendations of the expert advisory board “Climate change mitigation in mobility for development of renewable fuels” will be given by Prof. Dr. Meike Jipp of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). John Cooper from Fuels Europe will go into more detail on the requirements for energy security in the transport sector.

The Russian war of aggression on Ukraine has drastically highlighted the need to decisively and swiftly reduce dependencies on fossil fuels in Germany, in Europe and worldwide. In this regard, a panel discussion awaits you on Monday, January 23, 2023, after the opening session of the 20th International Renewable Mobility Congress “Fuels of the Future”, in which the panelists will address the question “Consequences of the war in Ukraine: is security of supply sidelining climate change migration?”. You can look forward to the participants Norbert Lins, Member of the European Parliament, Matti Lehmus from NESTE, Prof. Dr. Christian Küchen fromm Fuels and Energy e.V industry association (en2x), Dr. Monika Griefahn from eFuel Alliance e.V. and Claus Sauter from VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG.

Afterwards, Keith L. Kline from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA, will kick off the third session, “Implementing RED III: How will quota regulations in the EU look in the future?” with a presentation on “Expanding sustainable production and use of bio-based fuels, chemicals and materials improves capasity to respond to market disruptions.”

Dr.-Ing. Franziska Müller-Langer from DBFZ (DBFZ German Biomass Research Centre gemeinnützige GmbH) will provide an overview of quota developments in selected EU member states. Dominik Trisl and Jan Röstel from q-bility GmbH will report directly from practice on possible pitfalls and solutions for increasing GHG reduction obligations. Zoltan Elek from Landwärme GmbH gives potential outlooks for the GHG quota from electricit

23.01.2023 | 10 am – 1 pm: Five exciting presentations of 20 minutes of knowledge input each await you in the first session “Energy transition in transport between the challenges of security of supply and climate change mitigation”. 23.01.2023 | 2 – 3:30 pm: Five experts from the energy sector and politics will take a stand on the topic of effective climate protection and dependence on fossil energy imports. Address your questions directly to the panelists!

23.01.2023 |  4:15 – 6:15 pm: Report live from the third and final session of the day, “Implementing RED III: How will quota regulations in the EU look in the future?” via Twitter.
