BHP Billiton Donates C$150,000 to Students in Saskatchewan, Canada

BHP Billiton has officially announced that they have contributed C$150,000 to the Breakfast for Learning Program which provides student nutrition programs throughout the Province of Saskatchewan, Canada. The funds provided will assist the program in providing support for the 2015/2016 school year.

In 2014/2015, Breakfast for Learning provided funding support to 126 Saskatchewan school nutrition programs that helped to ensure over 17,000 children and youth in the province had access to the nourishment they require to grow and thrive while at school. Breakfast for Learning exists because it is very difficult for a child to continue to develop and focus on their studies when they are hungry.

This is the eighth year that BHP Billiton has supported Breakfast for Learning in Saskatchewan, investing a total of C$1.2 million to the program. Chris Ryder, Head of Corporate Affairs for BHP Billiton Potash, said: “We feel that our support for Breakfast for Learning provides a critical investment in the youth of Saskatchewan. Their success is our collective success and this donation helps us all to achieve our objectives in resourcing the future.”

“Our students are our future leaders, and investing in their learning through nutrition programs is vital to their success,” said Breakfast for Learning Director of Community and Organizational Development, Kelly Berlinic. “Breakfast for Learning is proud to work with corporate citizens such as BHP Billiton to ensure all students have the nourishment they need to succeed at school.”
