E.ON and the Italian major agro-food group Granarolo have agreed on an outsourcing deal: E.ON Connecting Energies (ECT), E.ON’s international unit for integrated energy solutions, will fully own, operate and manage Granarolo’s existing and new energy assets with a total capacity of 14 MW. ECT will not only ensure the reliability of Granarolo’s own energy infrastructure and assets, but also help the company to meet their CO2 targets, increase energy efficiency and further lower their overall energy costs.
Specifically, ECT will refurbish, operate and maintain the existing energy infrastructure of 4 combined heat and power plants (CHP) at Granarolo’s main production sites. In addition, ECT will build, own and operate a 3.3 MWel CHP at the Usmate Velate production site in Northern Italy. The new plant will provide more than 21 GWh of electricity and about 13 GWh of thermal energy each year.
