Herman Sr. BV places order for Damen Shoalbuster 2308 S

The thirteenth Damen vessel to be purchased by Herman Sr. BV

A contract has been signed between Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld and Herman Sr. BV for the building and delivery of a Shoalbuster 2308 S, to be named Teddy. The new vessel will join the five other Damen Shoalbusters currently operated by the company and, with the hull already available from stock, is due for delivery in March / April 2019. This latest addition to the Senior BV fleet will allow the company to expand the services that it offers to the dredging, offshore wind and other sectors.

Herman Sr. BV. is a third-generation, family-owned company based in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. Its fleet of Damen Shoalbusters and Multi Cats enables it to offer a wide range of marine services to its customers and it currently has vessels under contract in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, as well as in Europe.

Like the other models in its class, the Shoalbuster 2308 is an exceptionally rugged and versatile workboat, which, as its name suggests, is optimised for a wide range of shallow water operations as well as offshore activities. The designs are continually updated to take advantage of the latest components and build techniques.

“The order for the Teddy will be the tenth contract between Herman Sr. BV and Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld,” said Jos van Woerkum, Managing Director of the yard. “We are very proud and grateful for the trust and loyalty that Herman Sr. BV has shown to our company over so many years.”

“Our choice for the Damen Shoalbuster 2308 S was a simple one,” added Jack van Dodewaard, Managing Director of Herman Sr. “First the hull was in stock, ensuring a short delivery time. And secondly, we see the 2308, with a bollard pull of over 20 tonnes, as a very handy workboat suitable for almost any task. Her shallow draught and manoeuvring capabilities make her a proven workhorse for the dredging industry. The Teddy will be the third 2308 that we have ordered from Damen Hardinxveld. Since receiving our first version, Baloe, there have been improvements that have made the vessel even better, especially for the crew and our clients. We are looking forward to adding this new vessel to our fleet.”
