Maersk Drilling, a drilling contractor, specialized in operating under the most challenging conditions is leading the way in terms of developing a new business model and technological solutions that will deliver an efficient drilling campaign for its customers globally.

In an exclusive interview with our correspondent, Maersk Drilling Chief Operating Officer (COO), Morten Kelstrup, explained that the company remains committed on combining operational excellence with technological and business model innovation to drive greater value creation for its customers.

Morten said Maersk Drilling already has an outstanding operational record, with a financial uptime in excess of 99% so far this year. One example is recent operations in Ghana where its drill ships have executed campaigns more than 200 days ahead of schedule, in this way helping to bring down the time to first oil.

While commenting on Maersk Drilling success stories, he said that the company has been making giant strides in terms of human capacity development more especially in the North Sea where it developed the required skills and have been able to successfully export the skills for its drilling campaigns in other locations where cutting-edge skills and technology make a difference.

He also said that one of the company’s drill ships known as Maersk Venturer holds the world record for the deepest water depth ever drilled – 3,400m offshore Uruguay in 2016.

Maersk Drilling is a contractor that provides high-efficiency drilling services to oil companies around the world. The company has developed a flexible floater fleet which can operate from the shallowest to the deepest water depths.
