Last year, I was told by an attendee that there was something wrong with the PDAC Convention. This particular person didn’t like waiting an entire year for it to come around again. Fortunately, for this attendee and everyone else who feels the same way, March 2017 is just around the corner. It is with great excitement that I share this message with you for the first time in my role as PDAC President.
I have attended the PDAC Convention for more than 20 years, watching it grow substantially in size and reputation. Today, it is the world’s premier, must-attend industry event. The PDAC Convention is where the world’s mineral industry meets. It draws investors, analysts, mining executives, geologists, government officials, students and international attendees.
In 2016, PDAC and the World Economic Forum co-hosted the inaugural International Mines Minsters Summit (IMMS). It brought together international Mines Ministers from around the world, led by Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable Jim Carr. The IMMS provided an important setting for the international mining community to discuss and work on resolving issues affecting the industry. We look forward to the return of the IMMS as it focusses its attention on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, clean technology and innovation.
The PDAC 2017 Convention marks 85 successful years, I am pleased to announce another outstanding
lineup. Global economist and author Dambisa Moyo is confirmed as the Mineral Outlook Luncheon
speaker, as well as an excellent assortment of presenters, Short Courses, programs, social and networking opportunities. The PDAC Convention promises to bring the sector’s latest developments and technologies back to Toronto.
