TCN ENERGIZE 40MVA 132/33KV MOBILE POWER TRANSFORMER AT DAMBOA

The transmission Company of Nigeria has successfully installed and energized a 40MVA 132/33kV mobile power transformer at the Damboa Transmission Substation in Bornu State, on May 7th, 2017.

In a press statement signed by the GM (Public Affairs) TCN, SeunOlagunju, TCN said that the Damboa Substation, previously a 60MVA 132/33kV capacity transmission station with fully equipped control room and staff quarters was completely destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents on the 4th of July, 2014.

As a result of the incident, bulk power transmission to Damboa and environs reduced by 60MVA. Notwithstanding the volatile nature of the area however, TCN initiated the process for procurement and installation of a 40MVA 132/33kV mobile power transformer, in an attempt to bridge the shortfall in bulk electricity transmission to distribution load centers that supply the electricity to Damboa and environs.

The statement further noted that installation works on the new mobile 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer commenced on Tuesday, 4th April, 2017 and was completed as well as energized on Sunday 7th May, 2017. The Mobile power transformer was installed in-house by TCN engineers.

TCN noted that it recognizes the fact that every electricity customer deserves to have access to electricity, therefore it would continue to work with security agents, where necessary, to ensure that it continues to transmit bulk electricity to distribution load centers anywhere within the nation.
