Weatherford Vice President Receives SPE Award

HOUSTON – Weatherford International plc has officially announced that Bill Lane, Vice President of Emerging Technologies for Artificial Lift, has received the Society of Petroleum Engineers (“SPE”) Gulf Coast Regional Production and Operations Award for his outstanding contributions to SPE and dedicated service to the Gulf Coast Region. Mr. Lane was honored at the 2015 SPE Gulf Coast Section Awards on May 21, 2015 at the Norris Center in Houston.

“For nearly 40 years Bill’s contributions to the oil and gas industry have helped shape the artificial lift business into what it is today,” said Ernie Dunn, President of Production for Weatherford. “We are grateful for his technical expertise and organizational leadership throughout his tenure and congratulate him on this well-earned award.”

Mr. Lane has been with Weatherford and its predecessors for over 20 years in various executive positions, including as Vice President for the Progressing Cavity Pump Business Unit, the Elastomers Business Unit, Artificial Lift Systems R&D, Compression Equipment and Completion Equipment. Mr. Lane’s current duties include evaluating emerging artificial lift technologies, researching oil and gas applications from a production standpoint, collaborating in technical publications, representing the artificial lift team on technology issues and providing content for and lecturing on artificial lift.  Mr. Lane is also a member of the Weatherford Unconventional Resources Team.

Before joining Weatherford in 1994, Mr. Lane spent 18 years managing various engineering and manufacturing operations in the U.S. and internationally for Otis Engineering Corporation. In 2003, he was the recipient of a Harts E&P Special Meritorious Award for Engineering Innovation. Mr. Lane holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering Design, both from the University of Texas at Arlington. Mr. Lane has 38 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
