February 20, 2018 – Began the official activity of the Employment Task Force, which seeks to promote training throughout life, boost labor formalization and strengthening social protection.
With the presence of Labor Minister of Argentina, Jorge Triaca, and Argentina ‘s sherpa to the G20, Pedro Villagra Delgado, the first official meeting of the year working group G20 Employment, a team composed of officials held member countries and organizations that seek develop public policies that improve employment globally.
The meeting will continue tomorrow and will be the first in a series that will include two other meetings throughout the year: 11 and 12 June and 3, 4, and 5. The recommendations drawn up by the Employment Task Force then reach ministers from the G20 countries and representatives of international organizations, which will meet in September. They, in turn, will submit proposals for the top political leaders in Summit of Heads of State and Government of the G20, to be held in November in Buenos Aires.
In the opening ceremony, the minister stressed Triaca the possibility of making a global contribution of the G20. “We are proud to be hosting this great opportunity to work together on issues that are central to the lives of all workers. Also to discuss the future of work and new forms of employment in a changing world, and discuss issues on which there is still much progress as gender equality and disability at work, to promote a labor market more inclusive and equitable , “he said.
After welcoming remarks, representatives of G20 Finance Canal and working groups Education, Digital Economy and Development presented aspects of the work being done that are directly linked to employment. At 1115, Affinity Groups Labor 20 (Employment), Business 20 (Business) Think 20 (Academia), Civil 20 (civil society) and Youth 20 (Youth) presented their vision, while some international organizations such as the OECD, World Bank, ILO and IMF presented the international stage.
The focus of the activities, which will end tomorrow afternoon, are the priorities for working together and include: promoting education throughout life and the acquisition of skills for inclusive growth; promote labor formalization and decent work, and strengthening social protection for the future of work. In addition, the Employment Taskforce seeks to reduce gaps in gender and makes particular focus on vulnerable groups.
All these proposals are aligned with the Future of Work, one of the three priorities established by Argentina for the G20 2018. ” It is necessary to create conditions for more and better jobs. The G20 was established in 1999 as a technical meeting of finance ministers and Central Bank presidents. During the economic crisis of 2008, it became what it is today: a key discussion and decision-making space in which top world leaders and major economies participate. Together, members represent 85% of the total crude product, two thirds of the world population and 75% of international trade.
