Pika Energy to Offer Wind-Solar Hybrid Energy System to Off-Grid Market
WESTBROOK, Maine – altE Store and Pika Energy Partner to Offer Innovative Wind-Solar Hybrid Energy System to Off-Grid Market. The Partnership enables distribution of residential wind turbine and battery bank charger to global do-it-yourself renewable energy customers and installers.
altE Store, a leading distributor of solar panels and solar power products, has partnered with Pika Energy, a Maine-based manufacturer of residential wind turbines and wind-solar hybrid systems. altE Store now offers Pika’s T701 wind turbine to its online and wholesale customers along with Pika’s new B801 Charge Controller. Designed and manufactured in the United States, the Pika turbine is designed to complement solar power in a wind-solar hybrid system, providing year-round power while extending battery life and reducing reliance on backup generation. When coupled with the Charge Controller, the Pika turbine is completely operational off-grid. altE will showcase Pika Energy products at its annual Dealer Conference from February 24-25 in Boxborough, MA.
“We’ve been looking for a long time to add a wind turbine of this scale, and Pika Energy fills a gap in our product offerings,” says altE Store president Sascha Deri. “Pika’s DC microgrid gives our customers flexibility in system design and powerful system monitoring tools. The quality of Pika’s engineering and low shipping costs make this a product we’re excited to offer our DIY and dealer customers.”
Designed with support from the US Department of Energy and tested at the National Renewable Energy Lab, the T701 offers quiet, reliable performance in a package that is compact enough to ship by UPS or bush plane, but is powerful enough (up to 1700W) to support many off-grid homes through the winter months when solar energy is at a minimum.
Pika Energy products, including the T701 Wind Turbine, S2001 PV Link, and B801 Charge Controller, use Pika’s REbusTM 380VDC Microgrid technology for lower wiring cost and greater site flexibility: the turbine can be located up to ¼ mile from the customer’s home and connected with low-cost 12-gauge wire. Pika’s B801 Charge Controller efficiently charges battery banks between 24 and 48V, and includes free remote system monitoring worldwide via the REview™ dashboard.
“altE was a natural partner for Pika to launch our T701 turbine with new B801 charge controller for the off-grid market,” says Pika Energy president and co-founder Ben Polito. “altE is highly regarded in the industry for its excellent technical support of residential grid-tie and off-grid projects. From system sizing through installation, the knowledgeable altE team is clearly focused on the success of its customers’ renewable energy installations.”
