Rosneft Sets New Drilling Speed Record
Rosneft sets another record of commercial drilling speed at the continental part of Russia was set at Ust-Tegusskoye field of RN-Uvatnefregaz, a Rosneft subsidiary. 2849 m – deep controlled directional well No.2948 was drilled in 7.5 days with the drilling speed of 11441 MTR/RIG per month. This rate extends the uppermost figures of 2014 – 10368 MTR/RIG per month – by more than 10%. Remarkably, maximal rates of commercial drilling speed at RN-Uvatneftegaz were updated twice during 2015: the rate of 10442 MTR/RIG per month was recorded in April at the well No. 2961.
Those results became possible due to implication of the world’s best practices and technologies along with well-organized work of contractors according to separated service system (direct control and management of drilling and service contractors by execution of direct contracts with all performers of the works). A no less important success criteria of the implemented drilling operation is the fact that this record was set by the Russian service companies.
Technological achievements show Rosneft’s adherence to the strategy of efficiency enhancement in its key business dimension – liquid hydrocarbons production. It is also a qualitative result of the Company’s work optimization, which is especially important amid the negative macroeconomical context. Earlier this year Rosneft as part of Sakhalin-1 Consortium drilled the world’s longest well.
