Better health is not only central to happiness and life expectancy; it is imperative for the vibrancy of communities, and the success of businesses in that community. Healthy populations live longer, are more productive, and are more efficient.  Better health has broader socioeconomic impacts for generations to come.
GE works on things that matter, and is dedicated to changing the way the world approaches health.  Being healthy is more than good healthcare, and accelerating change by improving health, improving care, and reducing costs, requires that we build bridges between healthcare, community, and public health.  It’s all connected — that’s why we want to start with your community.
GE invites you to enter the Healthy Cities Leadership Challenge, an open innovation competition that challenges communities and private business to come together across sectors and work to accelerate the pace of change in healthcare and to improve overall health. Whether it’s a program focused on the built environment, kindergarten readiness, personal health improvement, access to care, childhood obesity, smoking cessation, or programs focused on any of the other social determinants of health – we want to see how you plan to leverage the strengths of businesses and public entities in your community to more effectively develop and implement community health initiatives.
Your community could  receive up to $25,000 in funding over the course of a one-year program, and access to an innovative learning collaborative with peer support from experienced community health leaders, preeminent thought leaders and academic researchers in population health, and other business and industry leaders in this field.
