Aggreko, poised to power Africa’s economic growth- Alumona

Aggreko, the generator-hire company has been said to be ready to power Africa’s economic growth.
This was made known by its Business Development Manager, (Nigeria), Joy Alumona in a chat with our correspondent at the Sub-Saharan Africa Oil & Gas Conference in Houston , Texas, USA.
Aggreko Plc is a supplier of temporary power generation equipment and of temperature control equipment. It is headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom.
According to her, although the company is relatively young in the country, “the company globally has about 50 years experience. We have been available since the old age of when power generation came into being.
“We are not into the business of outright sales of generating set. What that simply means is that these equipment belongs to us. So, you go to bed and let us worry about your headache. We put the gen set out there for you. We run it, maintain it and operate it. We put all the technical capability in place.
“We have skilled man power. You can scale your power need as the case may be. We tailor make your requirements. We are your grid that is not available in most places,” she said.
Alumona who said the company has about 33 locations across Africa with about 1.6 gigawatt of power also added that it has about 110 Megawatt installed capacityIn Nigeria.
Speaking on the conference, she urged stakeholders in the Oil and Gas sector to put into actions the knowledge they have gathered in order to fully develop the sector.
In her words,“As I am here today, I can see the quality of speakers and the kind of things that have happened is really educating.
“As we all have said, we really need to put these talks into action. We need to take it back home. You can imagine when people are moving forward with technology and we are sitting down. It will be in the interest of everybody if we take these serious as the way they should be,” she added.
