Frankfurt airport forecasts soaring passenger numbers, profits
Frankfurt – Germany’s busiest airport, Frankfurt, will see a rise in passenger numbers and profits in 2018, its operator Fraport has said.
Passenger numbers are expected to rise from 64.5 million in 2017 to between 67 million and 68.5 million this year, Fraport said on Friday.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) are expected to rise from 1 billion euros (1.23 billion dollars) to between 1.08 billion and 1.11 billion euros over the same period.
Fraport is expected to achieve sales of up to 3.1 billion euros in 2018, company head Stefan Schulte said, up from 2.9 billion euros in 2017.
The company’s sales increased by 13.5 per cent in 2017 compared to 2016, while operating profit fell by 5 per cent over the year to 1 billion euros. Fraport profited from compensation for a failed terminal project in Manila in 2016.
Net profits fell by 12 per cent year on year to 330 million euros in 2017.
