GECF to Deliver Keynote Speech at PETAN’s SAIPEC 2021
Gas Exporting Countries Forum, GECF, will deliver a keynote address at the 5th edition of the Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference scheduled to hold virtually on 19 – 21 May 2021.
Gas Exporting Countries Forum, which is represented by Ms Mahdjouba Belaifa, Gas Market Analysis Department Head, will make an official presentation on the GECF’s view on Africa’s gas potential, best practices from across the globe and how the African continent should collaborate following the recent signing of The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
“I am delighted to be speaking at PETAN’s 5th Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference which has become the largest gathering of the oil, gas and energy value chain professionals across the continent. Join me for four weeks of networking throughout the integrated text and video-based networking platform,” said Ms Mahdjouba Belaifa, GECF’s Gas Market Analysis Department Head.
Recently, GECF unveiled plans to promote gas development in the African oil and gas industry to eliminate energy poverty, enhance growth and mitigate CO2 emissions pollution in the continent.
According to GECF, Africa dominates the GECF agenda and there are at least six African countries represented in the forum out of its nineteen member countries, accounting for more than 90% of Africa’s proven natural gas reserves.
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is an international governmental organisation that provides the framework for exchanging experience and information among Member Countries. The GECF is a gathering of the world’s leading gas exporting countries and was set up as an international governmental organisation to increase the level of coordination and strengthen the collaboration among Member Countries.
The Member Countries of the Forum are Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Angola, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Norway, Peru, and the United Arab Emirates have the status of Observer Members.
With the current number of members, the GECF has a strong position in global energy markets and among international energy organisations. Together, the coalition represents 70% of proven gas reserves, 44% of its marketed production, 52% of the pipeline, and 51% of LNG exports across the globe.
