Since the 1950s, Siemens has been operating in Nigeria and opened its first office in the country in 1970. As part of its business activities within the country, Siemens has been involved in power projects and has built four major power plants in Nigeria, supplied and installed over 100 small gas turbines and compressors in onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities. The company has a consistent track records on major power projects in Nigeria which include: Major overhaul of Geregu 1 Power Generating Plant; EPC for Azura-Edo Independent Power Plant.
Siemens provides various innovative solutions in Nigeria, where its Power & Gas, Digital Factory/Process Industries & Drives, and, Energy Management Divisions occupy leading positions. The company’s products and services and long-standing experience are helping to pioneer a sustainable power solutions to the Nigerian consumers.
Today, Siemens has over 80 employees in Nigeria, operating from Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja and several project sites. It has developed into a strong and highly respected company, having a good reputation to its business activities. Siemens also has a strong partnership with various companies within Nigeria such as Shell Petroleum Development Company, Dangote Industries Limited, and CMI FPE Limited for the servicing and supply of low-voltage products, motor control centers, automation panels, and testing and commissioning services. Providing service & sales of small gas turbine parts to oil & gas customers such as – Exxon Mobil, Shell, and Total.
Siemens also partnered with Nigerian companies such as GIL Automations Limited, Mikano International Limited, and Martsie Limited for the assembly of low-voltage distribution systems, compact substations, traffic lighting and control systems, and the supply and servicing of the Building Technologies Division’s products and solutions. Local subcontractors were trained and certified by Siemens for efficient and professional delivery of power distribution services to local customers.
A number of customers in Nigeria benefited from Siemens’ advanced, modular, and innovative low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems and solutions. Siemens implemented key projects for the supply, installation, and commissioning of indoor and outdoor switchgear and auxiliaries for 33/11-kV substation systems.
Siemens also have a Power Academy in Lagos which is delivering a variety of power training courses to customers in various sectors, including oil & gas, utilities, banking, manufacturing, consulting, and construction.
