The History Behind Norway's Draugen Platform
Norway’s Draugen platform is a true engineering marvel. Resting on a single column, the platform consists of a concrete shaft with integrated topside decks. Stabilized oil is stored in tanks at the base of the facility.
Interesting fact: it was the first field developed in the Norwegian Sea 20 years ago.
In waters 250 metres deep, the Draugen platform was considered “deep water” when it came on stream in 1993.
