Nigeria LNG Limited has adopted artificial intelligence to deliver more value, boost efficiency, sustainability, and operational excellence across the value chain in the company’s operations.
Olakunle Osobu, Deputy MD, NLNG Limited, made this known at the 2025 Gastech Conference in Milan, Italy, covered by The Energy Republic.
Speaking on a panel titled “Operational Excellence through the Application of Artificial Intelligence Technologies,” Osobu highlighted how NLNG is embedding AI across its value chain to remain future-ready, noting that the company’s ‘Goal Zero’ safety policy and operational efficiency targets are being significantly enhanced by artificial intelligence.
“With AI technologies, we have been able to identify our demand pool, and it has enabled us to make smart decisions, and we haven’t done anything in excess,” Osobu told Gastech conference delegates, stating that AI helps in providing exceptional information and identifying where the company needs an add-on in its operations.
He said, “AI helps in managing our data from our existing platform and interprets it in a way that can be used immediately.
“It provides the best information to help us make the right decision and be at the top of our game. That’s what AI will do for you.”
NLNG’s Deputy MD described AI as today’s driver of efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in the energy sector.
Highlighting the strategic role of AI in an organization, he said AI works very well once integrated properly into an organization’s platform.
“AI feeds on data, it does all the work and gives you the output result, which enables an organization to make the right decision.
“At NLNG, we have a culture of continuous improvement, and we want to be smart working, not hard working. We do predictive, preventive, corrective, and all the maintenance that we need to do to ensure we keep our plants running.
“We have an enterprise technology team that periodically looks at the organization’s operations and makes sure there is no obsolete software on our system.
“With AI technologies, we have been able to identify our demand pool, and it has enabled us to make smart decisions.
“AI is a game of strategy. If you run an operation and requires the best information in making the right decision, AI helps to provide the information, data, and interpret it in a way that can be used immediately,” Osobu added.
