NLNG Appoints Dr. Sophia Horsfall as General Manager of External Relations, Sustainable Development
Nigeria LNG Limited, NLNG, has formally appointed Dr. Sophia Horsfall as the new General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development, following the retirement of Andy Odeh.
In a statement obtained by The Energy Republic, Dr. Horsfall will be succeeding Andy Odeh, who retired on November 1, 2024. Before her new appointment, Dr. Horsfall started working with NLNG as Manager of Manpower Planning and Resourcing, followed by her role as Manager of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs.
In the statement, NLNG said Dr. Horsfall has proven track records and extensive experience spanning over 25 years in the oil and gas sector, highlighting her broad knowledge in corporate communications, human resources, and finance.
“Dr. Horsfall’s distinguished career at NLNG is marked by numerous accomplishments, including serving as the company’s first HR Manager in Business Partnering and leading as the inaugural Chief of Staff for the COVID-19 Crisis Management Team,” the company stated.
“Dr. Horsfall is highly credentialed, holding a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Lagos, an MBA from Imperial College London, a Diploma in Strategy and Innovation, and an MSc in Major Program Management from the University of Oxford,” the statement read.
“Dr. Horsfall brings her international experience into her new role as the company spokesperson and chief reputation manager,” the company said, describing her as a professional known for advancing corporate transformation and talent development.
In his words, Andy Odeh congratulated Dr. Sophia Horsfall on her new position and said he was confident she would succeed in her new role as General Manager of Sustainable Development and External Relations.
Odeh said, “We will continue to support her in every way possible to ensure NLNG reaches new heights. With her wealth of experience, I trust she will bring fresh perspectives to our relations and drive new accomplishments.”
Under Sophia’s direction, Odeh also emphasized the company’s continued dedication to enhancing media engagement, particularly through programs like the Change Your Story initiative and the recently launched NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting.
Dr. Horsfall is a fellow and member of several esteemed organizations, including the Chartered Institute of Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (AMCIPM), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (AMNIPR), and the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (mCIOD).
