PSA Monitors the Biggest Norwegian Continental Shelf Operator
The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) is keeping close tabs on the biggest NCS operator to ensure that any action it takes also helps to improve safety. Big efforts to cut costs and boost efficiency are under way at Statoil
Several programmes were launched by Statoil last year to achieve more efficient operation and save money. But this drive must also fulfil regulatory requirements.
“We want to ensure that the company determines and follows up risks in the activities covered by these programmes,” explains Kjell Marius Auflem.
As the supervision coordinator responsible for following up Statoil offshore, he adds that the PSA is also concerned to see that possible safety gains are identified and realised.
