Milan, Italy – Energia Wind 2020, an Italian energy company, has announced an operational update on its 330MW Rimini offshore wind farm project located approximately 12 nautical miles off the coast of the Adriatic Sea.
As one of Italy’s first fixed-bottom offshore wind projects, the project represents a major step forward in the Italian energy transition.
Gabriele Felappi, CEO of Energia Wind 2020, said that the Remini Offshore wind farm project will start the operational phase in the third quarter of 2026, highlighting the strategic role the project plays in accelerating the deployment of offshore wind in Italy.
Felappi made this known in an interview with The Energy Republic, noting that the surveys carried out by Fugro on the project have fully confirmed the suitability of the area for the implementation of the Rimini offshore wind farm.

According to him, the project has complied with all requirements set out under Italian legislation.

“The ‘Unique Authorisation” is expected to be granted in the third quarter of 2026. After that, the project will be able to enter the operational phase,” Felappi revealed.
He added that the project constitutes a key milestone in the Emilia-Romagna Region’s pathway towards 100% renewable energy supply by 2035.
