France Gaz, an association of French gas companies, has projected that up to 44 TWh of green gas volumes will be injected into the French gas infrastructures by 2030, reaffirming the industry’s commitment to reach the 2030 green gas production targets.

Speaking at a press conference in Paris, covered by The Energy Republic, Frédéric Martin, President of France Gaz, said the sector is staying the course with a gradual rollout of green gas production across the country, leading to the decarbonization of the gas industry.

According to him, there are 33.7 TWh of projects currently registered, including 227 projects for 2025 alone, representing 5.5 TWh.

“The sector is fully committed to achieving the 44 TWh injection target for 2030 set out in the upcoming Multiannual Energy Programme (PPE),” Martin said. “The option offered to sites currently using cogeneration to switch to injecting gas into the grid is a significant step forward.”

In its 2026 priorities, France Gaz proposed a broader pathway for energy transition, underscoring the pivotal role of the gas sector in the French energy mix.

“Despite political uncertainties, the LNG market remains essential for European energy security,” Martin explained, adding that France maintains a strategic position due to its gas infrastructure, which offers it the best market conditions.

“This advantage appears crucial for building an ambitious and sustainable transition for both local communities and consumers.”

On green gas production, France Gaz calls for a review of the post-2028 trajectory of CPBs, rejecting the new increase in excise duties on gas in the French 2026 budget.

France Gaz is advocating for public support for the launch of new technologies, essential for the recovery of all French waste through the production of renewable and low-carbon gas.

“While economic difficulties are piling up for businesses and households are feeling the effects of energy insecurity more acutely, it was incomprehensible to proceed with a new increase in excise duties,” Martin said.

The association advocates European competitive prices for consumers, consolidated by a coherent regulatory approach, particularly regarding hydrogen distribution, to ensure a stable, transparent framework compatible with the country’s industrial ambitions.

The resilience of a largely amortized infrastructure network, according to France Gaz, is an essential asset to support territories in the development of their resources and to allow industrial players to plan their investments over the long term.

France Gaz and its stakeholders reiterate that preserving France’s status as a gas hub remains a crucial asset for securing national supply.

In its statement, the association added that it is preparing a response to the DDADUE bill and will present a decarbonization roadmap in the spring of 2026.
