E.ON’s activities on behalf of climate control and lowering energy costs for commercial and industrial customers have received a special seal of approval: The German Energy Agency (Dena) has conferred an Energy Efficiency Award on the joint project between E.ON and glass maker, Pilkington Automotive Germany. This international award is granted under the auspices of the Federal Minister for the Economy and Energy (BMWi) and recognizes outstanding energy efficiency projects in industry, trade and business.
The award was presented by State Secretary Iris Gleike (BMWi) together with Dena Managing Director, Kristina Haverkamp, at the Dena conference in Berlin.
In conferring the award, Dena recognized the systemic and successful exploitation of energy savings at the Pilkington site in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The company produces front and rear windows at the site. The project, conceived and implemented by E.ON, is based on a co-generation unit with a digital infrastructure. The key achievements: 40 percent lower energy costs, increased production efficiency and more flexible utilization of equipment.
“The award is evidence of our skill in finding solutions,” says Karsten Wildberger, member of the E.ON board. “It also clearly shows that industry can make an important contribution to climate protection through the use of co-generation facilities. That’s why we are committed to our customers also receiving support for high-efficiency decentralized generation through the Co-Generation Act.”
