Esso Angola awarded certificates to 120 Teachers
A three-year program supported by Esso Angola, 120 teachers were awarded certificates after completing a training program to advance math, language and literacy.
Both children and adults in the Angolan capital of Luanda will now have access to a better education, thanks to a three-year program supported by Esso Angola. It provided training to 80 primary teachers and 40 literacy teachers in 12 schools.
The Teachers Training Project focused on schools in Viana and Cazenga, two of the largest municipalities in the capital city of 6.5 million people. The project was supported by Esso Angola and its partners in Block 15. Their combined support for the effort totaled about $200,000.
Training for primary school teachers focused on mathematics and Portuguese; while literacy teachers worked on devising and providing courses for adults. The enhanced training will reach about 5,000 students each year.
We believe that this training will help improve the quality of teaching and lead to better-prepared students. This will help them advance to the next school levels and get satisfying jobs in the future, which will contribute to the country’s development.

The teachers were also enthusiastic about how the training will boost their success in the classroom. “When I heard about this teacher training course I found that I could not miss the opportunity to increase my knowledge in order to convey it to our children,” one teacher said.
